Ensemble’s Storybook Theater Kicks off its Children Theater Season with the Much Loved Alice in Wonderland.(Santa Barbara, CA)—Ensemble’s Storybook Theater opens its 19th Anniversary Children’s Theater Season with an encore performance of Alice In Wonderland. This classic tale by Lewis Carroll has been smartly adapted into a 50 minute musical by Storybook director Miller James. Public performances are scheduled for noon on Saturdays, October 7, 14 and 21, 2006 at the Alhecama Theatre 914 Santa Barbara Street. This wonderful, fun-loving adventure played to sold-out audiences during the 2000-2001 season. Join Alice as she journeys to Wonderland, meets the worried and frantic White Rabbit, the silly Mad Hatter, the ever-sly Cheshire Cat and the Tyrannical Red Queen. Lewis Carroll’s witty tale of never-ending tea parties and delightful games comes to life with the magic and music of the stage. “What makes Storybook’s adaptation of this classic tale unique is that Alice’s father and mother actually create Wonderland with her” states director Miller James. “Through song, dance, lively costumes and masks, the audience gets to see that this journey is as important as the destination.” The cast includes Kate Louise Paulsen (last seen as Princess Pamina, in the Tale of the Magic Flute, for Ensemble’s Storybook and a current Lit Moon Theatre Company member) as Alice. Michael Conrad, having played in The Tale of the Magic Flute, Baba Yaga and David and the Gianmt, plays the Servant. Joyce Mayhew who played in How I learned to Drive for Ensemble Theater Company and a former Storybook player returns to play the Mother with Miller James as the Father. Although primarily intended for children from kindergarten through sixth grade, Alice In Wonderland welcomes adults, teachers and older siblings, who will find great enjoyment and merriment in these captivating Saturday public performances. With the belief that children’s lives are transformed through theatre, Ensemble Theatre Company of Santa Barbara (ETC), under the new direction of Executive Artistic Director Jonathan Fox, brings a unique vision to the performance of informative, entertaining and original plays.
